A year later..........
Memorial day approaches again. And once again, like last year, I'm seeing almost NO mention of what the true meaning of this holiday is, and that really frustrates me.
It originated as a day (Decoration Day) to honor the veterans of our country who've made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country. I wrote about this last year, and maybe, if you're of a mind, you could read it again.
Things haven't changed much in the past year. We've still got good men and women, some of our best, in harm's way, and Americans, for the most part, are still doing their best to ignore what's happening. Like I said, very frustrating.
Once again, I implore you, remember the men and women who've paid the ultimate sacrifice. Decorate the graves of the veterans of your family. They've at least earned that much. And remember the PARENTS of those who've made that sacrifice, for they're feeling that loss every day. It won't take much. Just an acknowledgement will do more for them than you could believe.
And remember to put your flag out. It'll be in their honor, after all.
Wars are not acts of God. They are caused by man, by man-made institutions, by the way in which man has organized his society. What man has made, man can change.

If only they had the will, eh? Though we could chalk this up as a failure of the Democratic leadership. It is really our own failure in not insisting on better leadership, or at least vertibrate leadership.
